Waypoint 622 and Hoffman’s Marina Recognized for Philanthropic Efforts
BRIELLE, NJ – August 31, 2015 – Waypoint 622 announced their recognition for the venue’s philanthropic efforts last month. Larry Grafas, the owner of both establishments, received an award on Thursday, August 27th from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders for his generosity in donating the use of Waypoint 622 for the dedication and renaming of the Route 35 Bridge to “Veterans of All Wars Memorial Bridge” on July 10, 2015.
The event came to fruition when Vietnam war veteran Terry Fearon was refused by the Department of Transportation when requesting to host an event to rename the bridge after the veterans on the actual site. When Mr. Fearon was turned down, Mr. Grafas generously offered Waypoint 622 to host the breakfast and use the restaurant as the location for dedication. The event consisted of more than 300 people including 70 veterans, local servicemen, Gold Star families, local officials and passersby.
Mr. Grafas is also the owner of Hoffman’s Marina in Brielle, directly adjacent to Waypoint 622. The duo has been under severe scrutiny lately with local townspeople constantly complaining about the daily usage of the venues as well as the philanthropic efforts of the restaurant and marina. Hoffman’s Marina has hosted fundraisers on multiple occasions over the past years but this is the first time Waypoint 622 has had the opportunity to follow in Hoffman’s footsteps.
An award presented to Mr. Grafas on August 27th at the Freeholders meeting in Freehold, NJ, stated, “The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders commends Larry Grafas for his generosity in helping to honor the service of generations of United States Veterans.” The certificate was signed and presented to Mr. Grafas by two of the Board’s Directors as well as multiple Freeholders.
