Press Release: Waypoint 622 Announces Maura E. Colon as New General Manager

BRIELLE, NJ – September 25, 2015 – Waypoint 622 today announced that Maura E. Colon, formerly of The Shipwreck Grill, has been named General Manager of the restaurant. In this role, Maura will be a member of the executive team and oversee over 90 employees of the restaurant.

As General Manager, Maura will be responsible for overseeing all of the Waypoint 622 staff including bartenders, waiters/waitresses, bussers, bar-backs and hostesses to make sure the restaurant runs smoothly and efficiently. Her job duties entail staffing the restaurant, training employees and coordinating a high volume of reservations on a daily basis. Maura is extremely committed to customer service and will also be responsible for making sure every patron has a pleasant experience.

Maura previously served as Assistant Manager of Shipwreck Grill, located in Brielle just steps away from Waypoint 622, for over six years where she supervised the dining room and became proficient in wine and food pairings.

Prior to this, Maura was the Assistant Manager at Red’s Lobster Pot in Point Pleasant, NJ where managed over 40 employees and was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. She also obtained a variety of roles over the years including flight attendant, event director and human resources generalist.

She graduated in 1981 from Georgian Court University with a Bachelor’s Degree in education.

Waypoint 622 is a restaurant, marina and patio bar located on the Manasquan River. The restaurant lies directly adjacent to Hoffman’s Marina’s East and West. Waypoint 622 changed ownership in January 2015 and was previously Union Landing Restaurant for over 35 years. Waypoint 622 offers fresh, new American cuisine with delectable fare prepared by Executive Chef Dan Palsi.


About Hoffman’s Marina:

Hoffman’s Marina was established in 1935 by Harry Hoffman. It has changed ownership multiple times over the years and was last turned over in 2009. Hoffman’s Marina is divided into two separate locations directly adjacent to one another. Hoffman’s Marina East is the first fuel dock at the entrance to the inlet with one of the oldest weigh scales in New Jersey. Hoffman’s Marina West consists of a marine store, offices, boat racks and docks. The duo is comprised of approximately five acres on the Manasquan waterfront and has slips to accommodate approximately 200 vessels.
