HOFFMAN’S MARINA CREATES THE HOFFMAN’S MARINA EDUCATION FOUNDATION TO BENEFIT THE BRIELLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Foundation is the Newest Addition to the Multitude of Charitable Endeavors Hoffman’s Marina Has Undertaken
BRIELLE, NJ – October 29, 2015 – Hoffman’s Marina has officially announced the creation of the Hoffman’s Marina Education Foundation to benefit Brielle Elementary School. With this foundation in place, Hoffman’s Marina hopes to raise a minimum of $10,000 annually to benefit the school. Donations for the newly created foundation will come from a variety of events, tournaments and fundraisers that Hoffman’s Marina and Waypoint 622 will host.
“We expect the foundation to grow as the Hoffman’s entities continue to prosper,” said Larry Grafas, owner of Hoffman’s Marina and Waypoint 622. “Through tournaments and events, both at the marina and the restaurant, our goal is to support the needs of the school in any manner that will serve the students and the community.”
The relationship with the school was formed a few years ago when Mr. Grafas met Brielle Elementary School Principal Chris Carlson. After that initial meeting, Mr. Grafas made the offer to hold an auction at the school in which Hoffman’s Marina offered a fishing trip charter aboard a 55-foot Hatteras Sport Fishing Boat that ultimately raised $2000.00. Since that first introduction, Hoffman’s Marina has continued to support the school.
“Hoffman’s is very excited about this opportunity to once again donate to Brielle Elementary School,” said Mr. Grafas. “We have always been fully committed to raising money for local charities in any way we can and being able to donate to this school allows us yet another opportunity to give back to the area.”
Many of the students and young adults of the Brielle community, who once were enrolled in the elementary school, are now employees of both businesses. Some of the parents of these employees were also once dockhands at Hoffman’s Marina years ago, as well as being employees of Union Landing, before becoming parents of our current staff. Over the years, Hoffman’s has demonstrated their appreciation for connectedness among the residents of Brielle and the surrounding towns.
Over the past few years, Hoffman’s Marina has monetarily donated and/or hosted multiple events to benefit numerous local charities from the VFW Posts to the Manasquan Chapter of the American Cancer Society to the dedication of the Route 35 bridge to what is now known as the Veterans of all Wars Memorial Bridge, honoring all who have served.
About Hoffman’s Marina:
Hoffman’s Marina was established in 1935 by Harry Hoffman. It has changed ownership multiple times over the years and was last turned over in 2009. Hoffman’s Marina is divided into two separate locations directly adjacent to one another. Hoffman’s Marina East is the first fuel dock at the entrance to the inlet with one of the oldest weigh scales in New Jersey. Hoffman’s Marina West consists of a marine store, offices, boat racks and docks. The duo is comprised of approximately five acres on the Manasquan River waterfront and has slips to accommodate some of the largest vessels that enter the inlet.
About Waypoint 622:
Waypoint 622 is a restaurant, marina and patio bar located on the Manasquan River. The restaurant lies directly adjacent to Hoffman’s Marina’s East and West. Waypoint 622 changed ownership in January 2015 and was previously Union Landing Restaurant for over 35 years owned by the Schmidt family. Waypoint 622 offers fresh, new American cuisine with delectable fare prepared by Brielle’s own Executive Chef Dan Palsi, formerly of the Manasquan River Golf Club.
